Ultra Black Hair Products, Company

Ultra Black Hair Products (UBH) is a line of hair care products for afro-textured hair. The product line includes shampoo, creme moisturizer, spray moisturizer and deep conditioner. With the exception of the shampoo (that contains a light fragrance), the products are fragrance and paraben free and all are designed specifically to promote the strength and growth of black hair.

In the early 1980’s, Cathy Howse had and an idea that would change the black hair care industry forever. The company initially started out as a book publishing company but evolved into manufacturing black hair products that the industry lacked. Over the years to meet the need of afro textured hair, the company has seen many changes in its business and its products. With change comes opportunity, and UBH has always been ready and willing to embrace it. Yet, through it all, UBH is still dedicated to those who want to understand the truth about black hair. UBH is privately held and based in Denver, Colorado.

Featured Hair Tips

Hair Tip 1

Can black people wash their hair every day?

Absolutely! Choose a shampoo for dry hair so you don’t strip the essential oils that keep the hair from being brittle.

Hair Tip 2

I have always had thick coarse hair – people used to think my hair was a wig. Do you think it will become thick once again?

Thinning hair is often caused by relaxer chemicals. If you are relaxing your hair and the chemical is pushed against your scalp to smooth, your hair will probably not thicken, which is unfortunate. Relaxers chemicals contain the same ingredients as drain cleaner and repeated smoothing against your head can eventually cause permanent balding not hair thickening.

Hair Tip 3

Is it true that Biotin will grow your hair?

I did not use Biotin to grow my hair and I have not found Biotin to be a necessary requirement.

Hair Tip 4

SEVERE hair breakage and hair loss in the winter, to the point of baldness. Does "winter weather" cause hair loss?

Perhaps the reason you are having hair loss problems is because they are self-inflicted! Hair loss is not a seasonal thing, although we try to say it is. It is often things we are doing to cause our hair to fall off in any season. You will be able to truly answer the question of whether or not you are actually causing the problems only after reading my book. I really don’t believe it is the changing seasons!
